Help for Businesses - It is recommended that businesses reach out to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) before applying for other sources of assistance.

Small Business Loan Fund Emergency Flood Fund
The RI Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Loan Fund (SBLF) Board has approved $500,000 in funding to be allocated to small businesses in need of flood recovery assistance. Existing manufacturers, retailers and selected service companies are eligible to apply for a minimum of $10,000 and maximum of $100,000. SBA Loan Centers

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that its Disaster Loan Outreach Centers located in North Providence and Wakefield will close Friday, May 28, 2010 at the close of business.

The West Warwick and Westerly Centers will be closed Monday, May 31, 2010 in recognition of Memorial Day and resume normal operations on Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

FEMA Registration Deadline

Time is running out to file a claim with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Homeowners, renters and businesses have until May 28, 2010 to register with FEMA for disaster assistance and return their applications for SBA disaster loans.

Disaster Recovery Centers (DRC)

Disaster Recovery Center locations

Two Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Bristol and Westerly will be closing at 6 pm on May 7, 2010. Three DRCs will remain open in Cranston, South Kingstown, and West Warwick. Hours at these DRCs will be Sunday, noon to 6 pm; Monday through Saturday, 8 am to 6 pm.

After the May 28th disaster assistance deadline, FEMA’s toll-free lines will still be available to answer questions about programs or the status of an application. More...

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) has extended normal operating hours at the Central Landfill at 65 Shun Pike in Johnston, RI to accommodate flood debris disposal needs.
